Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk well shaken before measuring
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 oz blue cheese crumbled
  • to taste kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • as desired chopped fresh chives or parsley for garnish

Method
 

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk the sour cream, mayonnaise, and buttermilk until smooth, then stir in the garlic powder.
  2. Crumble the blue cheese into the bowl and fold it in gently. Taste the dressing and adjust with extra blue cheese, salt, and pepper until the flavor is balanced.
  3. Transfer the dressing to a sealed container and refrigerate for 4 to 5 days. Sprinkle with chopped chives or parsley before serving if you like.

Notes

Make the dressing at least 2 hours ahead so the flavors can mellow and blend.
For a thinner, pourable dressing, stir in extra buttermilk 1 tablespoon at a time after chilling.
Use full-fat sour cream and mayonnaise for the richest texture; light versions will work but taste less creamy.
Keep the dressing in a sealed container in the refrigerator and use it within 4 to 5 days.
